I think I'm in what people call a "quarter life crisis". I'm not really sure what will happen after Matt's teaching contract is done in March. Should we go back to the States? Or should we pursue our dreams and live in Tokyo, perhaps the most awesome city on the planet? We're not sure. Before this weekend, I thought I had it all figured out... but I guess something within me changed. Uncertainty KILLS me. And yet I know this is such an exciting point in our lives where everything is changing all the time... Life won't always be like this. Someday we will settle somewhere (maybe), and things will be calm(er). But as of now, I just want to know what to do!
This outfit is probably one of my favorites as of late. Simple neutrals with a pop of color and my happy face bag :) It's easy to feel put-together in neutral colors, and I like that.

There comes a time when you make a choice, that will lead to long time happiness. And only you and Matt will know what that is. You will either feel good about it or not. You are right, you are in such a good place in life to actually figure it out.
ReplyDeleteRelish in the moment of decisions, because so much of that time pondering about it, you actually realize you have already made an decision, and sometimes we need our emotions to catch up to why our brain is going.
Also, something that has helped me is recognizing what needs to be accomplished in order to live out my dreams, it seems those decisions require more work and patience, which ultimately has always blessed my life long time. always.
Love you.
love your shooooes. I've been looking like mad for ones like that but with a lower heel. high heels hurt me so bad.....but they are SO in...I am all about flats. pfff. hope you figure things out, that is a difficult spot to be in. I'm applying to grad schools right now...well at least I should be, and I feel paralysed.
ReplyDeleteI'm the kind that Needs to always know everything or I feel insecure. But over the years I have also realised that a lot of the things you plan, don't happen like you thought. But in the end it's a good thing because it just means something better is happening. Then again, if you have a goal and a dream, make it happen. :)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about uncertainty. I'm graduating and everything is up in the air! I don't like not being in control! I love this outfit! I really like that the tights and skirt read as the same color. And your scarf has just enough color to really make the outfit! Hope you figure everything out. Time will tell!
ReplyDeleteI totally know how you feel. I wish I knew exactly where we are going to end up and settle down. We're selling our house so we can be ready to move as soon as we figure it out! We have been praying about it for a long time now...I guess we just keep waiting, and thinking!
ReplyDeleteI like the way you have your scarf tied, and the bright pop of color it gives your outfit!
ReplyDeleteI think you have to take life as it comes. Everything constantly changes. I thought I knew exactly what I wanted 5 years ago, and that all changed! You can't plan too far ahead. Go with flow, and do what makes you and Matt happy, and you'll always feel happy that way.
Eh, it is important to have a plan, but sometimes life is best left to just let it ride for a bit. A lot can change from now until March--you never know. I love your boots and the polka dot tights. For now, just focus on looking cute for us and worry about all those important decisions later. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with those spotty tights - great boots too!

My eyes were drawn to your scarf & shoes immediately. They work so well together! I've been looking for a pair of lower heeled booties and love the color of yours. And don't worry! You'll figure things out in time. Just listen to your gut.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pop of color - and love the smiley face too!
ReplyDeleteLove it, a great simple way to accent a bold scarf.
ReplyDeleteI'm no good with not planning either. It makes me super nervous. I like to at least have a mental itemized list of my future. Seems like you guys have already had so many cool adventures I'm sure you'll make another awesome decision.

You look amazing in that color combo! And don't worry too much about what to do in 6 months, God has a way deciding what to do and you just end up along for the ride!
ReplyDeleteI love your tights and shoes! I'm at a similar point in my life. Uncertainty can be scary but I'm so jealous of the adventure you are currently having! Enjoy it while it lasts!

Can he renew for another year? I say live it up while you can before you have the kiddos! I am so jealous of your adventures.. you are lucky!

You look very put together, too. As for the decision, as long as you both want to stay, why not live out the adventure? And if it isn't working for you, move on to the next one! The uncertainty would drive me crazy, but surely you can have a talk with that one guy who has all the plans (aka God) and he'll help you sort it out. Or thrust you into something that you didn't know you were totally ready for. Either one.
ReplyDeleteJenny... I'm so glad I know you. Always so wise. The second paragraph is so accurate it almost gives me chills. I think I have already made my decision... We will see though! Things have changed so much in a few days. Maybe things could change in few months. Who knows? Thank you for your advice, you know me so well. I love you and I hope you are doing well <3
ReplyDeleteAhh, so exciting Kelsey! I'm so happy for you and your husband, and I'm so glad that I get to read your blog through this very special time :) I hope you figure it out soon and your prayers are answered!
ReplyDeleteHaha, yes, I totally know what you mean. In college, I wanted something completely different than what I want now. So strange. I will try my best to go with the flow! Thanks for the advice, girl :)
ReplyDeletehaha, will do! Thanks Frannie :)
ReplyDeleteI love your scarf - it adds such a burst of color to your outfit. Your bag is so cute, it just makes me smile looking at it ;) Thanks for sharing!

One thing we can be certain about is that there's nothing in this world to be certain of. :) That's some old quote. Have no idea who said it though.
ReplyDeleteAnd my goodness do I ever like your tights! :D

hey grl-
ReplyDeleteI didn't edit the photos THAT much, so I don't use anything that complicated, but I use Lightroom 2...which I think is pretty close to photoshop, and still adobe. but a lot of times I just use the picnic thing on flickr to get the rounded edges and slight vignetting I want, so it depends when I'm doing. If you want your photos to look more creamy or vintage try taking down the saturation and then bringing up the yellow or green in the color levels and fudge till it looks good.
Such a casual chic look. For me the accessories are what really tied this whole look together. The smile bag is great but the booties are my favorite part of this outfit. They work with the tights and the neutral tones you used. Great outfit!
ReplyDeleteI love your shoes!
ReplyDeleteAre so fab!
