I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend! Matt and I sure did, even though it wasn't really a holiday weekend over here. Did you know they don't celebrate Easter in Japan? Which meant no bunny or egg shaped chocolate for me. Sigh.
I got this skirt from Modcloth- I've been searching for a pleated maxi skirt for a while now, so when I saw this one, I knew it was meant to be. I feel like I'm going to live in this skirt all summer. I'm pretty sure I can wear basically anything with it. It's super duper comfy and sits perfectly on my natural waist. And if it's cold (like today), I can wear cozy leggings under it and nobody would ever notice! I think I'm going to need to buy hats to wear with this skirt...
Oh, and I'm wearing a humongo bun on the top of my head. I like to think of it as a messier, bigger version of the top knot. I've noticed that a lot of the cool girls here like to wear their hair like this, so I thought I'd give it a shot. It might be slightly ridiculous.
PS It's the last day to enter into my Little Petite Designs giveaway for a pair of adorable suede feather earrings! Hurry and enter!
PS (again). I'm officially on Chictopia.

I am so in love with this! Ever since EBEW, I have been quite tragically obsessive about long skirts, which is sad, since I used to hate them a bit. I never thought I could wear them since I'm so short. And it's true, I still don't feel comfortable without heels, but they are so lovely :)
ReplyDeleteLove your shoe pattern + stripes. And of course, your bun :) So interesting to see how a different country is inspiring you.
Ahhh love love love! You seriously are my fav. that bun is the greatest thing I have ever seen and so is that skirt! I want one!

I LOVE your outfit, maybe I'll try wearing my blue oxford over an outfit unbuttoned, I really like the way yours looks.
ReplyDeleteAnd I adore the bun, I tried a big messy top knot yesterday out of necessity because it was hot and humid here.
Fabulous!

I love these skirts and yours looks amazing on you. I love the fact that you can sneakily wear leggings underneath. And the denim and stripes look cool together.
ReplyDeleteha! This skirt is just fabulous, I love it. :D
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, this must be one of my favourite outfits of yours, I like so many things about it: the pattern play with stripes and polka dots, the pleated skirt, the black and white combination - against it, the light blue shirt is almost like a subtle pop of colour. I think I'll save this as inspiration and strive to recreate it this spring :)
ReplyDeleteLove this!! You so pretty.
ReplyDeleteoooh boy that is a massive bun. i wish i had as much hair as you do. i'm loving all your posts about your new home!
ReplyDeleteI love this skirt! I've been tempted by a few, too, and I might just have to take the plunge... :)
ReplyDeleteWow, I love your outfit! Great combo of black, white, and denim and spots and stripes!! :)
ReplyDeletethis pleated skirt is gorgeous!! is it see through at all (did you have to wear anything underneath it)?
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's totally not see through at all!
ReplyDeleteGood job, girl! :) Love that top, too. I am only mildly obsessed with horizontal stripes. Majorly obsessed with Buffalo!
ReplyDeletethis is the perfect look! I plan on buns and maxi skirts all summer too!
ReplyDeleteI really like the big top bun! I am going to try it. And that outfit is super cute, love the pleated skirt. cuuuuute.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great humongo bun! I wore one the other day that made me a good 3 inches taller. Leggings under maxi skirts sounds like a good idea. Do it!
ReplyDeletePs: I'll be sure to have some of my Easter candy with you in mind!
I search endlessly too for a pleated maxi skirt I finally had success at DI. I love when they come through for me. Your skirt and bun look fabulous!

ReplyDeleteYour bun is so cute! I wish I had long hair so I could do a messy bun like that, haha. That skirt is adorable as well! Maxi skirts are pretty much the most comfy thing in the entire world.
ReplyDeleteMaxi skirts and giant buns - genius combination! I did something similar myself here:

Always a winner to add a couple of inches to my height, although you have to watch out for low hanging branches...
Pretty much, this is my current dream outfit. Perfect maxi, chambray, stripes, and that top-knot! You are flawlesssss.

As soon as I saw your (adorable!) hairstyle, I immediately thought of this quote from Mean Girls: "That's why her hair is so big, it's full of secrets."
ReplyDeleteLoving this look!
Something about the slouchy unbuttoned shirt and humungo bun just work so wonderfully. I'm pretty sure I'd look like I had a beehive on my head, but this looks fabulous! Can't wait to see what else you pick up from the "cool girls" in Japan! (psst.. you're one of them!)
ReplyDeleteaw love the skirt a lot and that bun is waaaaay fun!
ReplyDeleteYour humongo bun is inspiring. Is all of that your real hair??
ReplyDeleteAsk the Duplex
How on earth did you get your hair like that?!!! Teach me!
ReplyDeleteThe bun looks great! I wear a bun on top of my head a lot - it's easy and cute!
ReplyDeleteThis is so ridiculously cute, I can't even get over it!! I was just eyeing that skirt on modcloth tonight, actually, and it is so, so cute on you! I also ADORE the giant bun... I've been meaning to try this for a while, but am not sure I have enough hair to do it justice! You've definitely re-inspired me to give it a go though!
ReplyDeleteI seriously need to grow my hair to do a successful bun. I also need to get a skirt like that :) Thanks for making me realize what I need.
ReplyDeletecute skirt, love this outfit!! and the bun! i'm SUCH a bun lover... so cute
