Stripes again. Really, if you don't own a striped shirt, you should. They are really so easy to wear.
I've noticed in my 30 so far, I really haven't worn much of my darker colored clothing. This is probably because I want to wear COLOR all the time. It always feels very uncharacteristic of me to showcase an outfit with dark neutrals. I decided to wear this all black and white outfit (with the shirt untucked! gasp!)... but I put a twist on it by wearing this bold scarf around my shoulders. It almost feels like I'm cheating on my 30 by using an accessory to create most of the statement in the outfit. Teehee.
Last night was fun! We went and got Indian food with a bunch of our friends (two of which just got engaged this weekend, YAY!!). It really made me sad to think that it might be one of the last times I'll be eating with them in a very long time. It also made me sad that I'll have to say goodbye to all of our "spots" - restaurants that we go to repeatedly and have inadvertently formed emotional connections with. But at the same time, I am so excited to explore Japan with Matt and discover our own new spots... What an adventure this will be!

Isn't it funny how much of a statement a scarf can be? And how neutral stripes can be? I love everything about this look, and I would DEFINITELY wear it, too!

every once in a while a i remember your post about girls coming into UO wearing scarves around themselves like shawls. i love that story because i remember thinking the same things when i saw chic girls doing that. this outfit is just lovely. i have been keeping my eyes open for a long scarf like this. i may just go to the fabric store like ascot friday did a few days ago.
ReplyDeleteGirl you have good memory! I always think of those girls when I wear my scarves like this. I find that Forever 21 has really long scarves, but props to you if you make one! That's awesome!
ReplyDeletethat scarf is beauuuuuuuuutiful! let me know when you put something together for sponsors. i would love to do a little partnership with your blog and my shop!

that is a gorgeous scarf!!! looking great tin!:)
ReplyDeleteOh I sure will! I'm thinking it probably won't be until after we move to Japan - things in March might be a little rough because of the move! Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteI included a black and white striped shirt too, and i was really excited to mix it with everything, but the stripes are so small and close together that in all my pictures it just looks grey:(

PRETTY scarf Kristine!
ReplyDeleteI know you love colors, but you look great in black. I wish I had your skin coloring to pull it off like you do! Black just makes me look even more washed out. But I wear it anyways, haha.
ReplyDeleteNorth Meets South
The scarf goes perfect with the b&w outfit! I'm sure your new adventures will be really exciting .. can't wait about them :) x
ReplyDeleteLOVE this outfit! That scarf is awesome!

I really like this! I like the pop of red against the black and white. And you still mixed your patterns perfectly :)
ReplyDeleteI love those shoes so much. I'm looking into getting some for myself this summer. I found a couple pairs (brand: Clarks) that look stylish and comfortable. I'm kind new to heels.. meaning.. I never wear them :(
ReplyDeleteYou and Matt will have so much fun in your exotic new land! You can always come back and visit too.
xx, Brittni
this looks great together! I'm wearing a very similar outfit today! You should try a jean jacket some time..I guess when your 30 for 30 is over. I love jean jackets and I think you would look great in one :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous scarf! I was initially very surprised to see you rocking such a neutral outfit, but it still has a very "Kristine" quality with the pattern mixing and the vibrant colors.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't think this constitutes cheating at all -- I think part of the excitement of the 30 for 30 for me has been working with my accessories to create more interesting looks than the pieces themselves might create!
That scarf is beautiful and adds a wonderful touch. I passed on a blog award on my blog today.
ReplyDeleteI think this scarf is the perfect compliment to a black and white outfit! The 30 for 30's best friend is accessories you know!
ReplyDeletethe scarf makes the outfit super fun.. love it!!
ReplyDeleteThat's such a beautiful scarf & great idea I would've never thought to wear but it looks great! Those shoes are killer!
